The workhorse Lelit Anna comes in two separate variants to accommodate individual user requirements. Before diving in to the differences, let's go over what the two variants have in common. Both feature a small 250 ml brass boiler, which helps keep a constant water temperature and facilitate the espresso coffee extraction. A high wattage heating element with a 1000 watt capacity for quicker reaction time when cold water enters the boiler. Both feature a very quick warm-up time; We clocked the warm-up time for this machine (this includes the grouphead and portafilter when locked in) to be ~10 minutes. This is mainly due to the high wattage of the heating element and small size brass boiler. We found this to be very convenient for morning warm-ups, especially when in a rush. And finally a three-way solenoid valve, which allows immediate removal of the portafilter immediately after the espresso extraction (or when the pump switch in coffee mode is off). During extraction the pressure gauge displays in real time the pressure during coffee extraction. Only 9-10 bar is necessary to make espresso. This gauge will help perfect your espresso shots.

There is an opening on the left side of the machine. This allows you to see the water level. This is a lot easier than opening the top cover and peeking in. Water tray grate is plastic. The cover is stainless steel. Both are removable for easy cleaning.

PL41EM

To control the PL41EM variant you use the traditional push-button switches. Oval chromed switches for power, coffee, and steam. The steam and water knob are located on the right of the espresso machine. They allow you to control the intensity of the steam or water output. The wand comes with a plastic grip. This helps you move the steam wand and protects your fingers from burning. Can be used for both steam or hot water depending on the current mode. The wand has this extra piece which injects extra air along with the steam. This helps in creating a more “frothy” texture.

Short warm up wait time due to the small boiler and high wattage heating element. The cord is completely detachable from the machine. This helps prevent damage if you are moving or long term storing the machine. It also fits nicely in the drip tray.

PL41TEM

The main upside to the PL41TEM is the PID display & pressure gauge, which allows the temperature of the boiler to be programmed for different coffees. The pressure gauge displays in real time the pressure during coffee extraction. Only 9-10 bar is needed to make espresso. This gauge will help perfect your espresso shot. The small boiler and high wattage heating element, combined with the PID controller cuts the wait time from coffee to steam considerably.

Equipped with polymer tubing that connects the boiler to steam/hot water valves. They are able to withstand high pressure and temperatures up to 620 °F, which helps facilitate easier repairs, and most importantly, are limescale free.

Controls via the power switch located on the back right of the unit. Not difficult to reach and keeps it out of the way of the rest of the main controls. The three way switch located on the front middle of the unit. Selects between the different modes. The up position is steam mode. The middle is hot water mode. The down is coffee mode. The pump switch located on the front right of the unit. Used to activate the pump for coffee or hot water mode.

  • Brass – The small 250 ml boiler helps keep a constant water temperature and facilitate the espresso coffee extraction.
  • High wattage heating element – 1000 watt heating element for quicker reaction time when cold water enters the boiler.
  • Very quick warm-up time – We clocked the warm-up time for this machine (this includes the grouphead and portafilter when locked in) to be ~10 minutes. This is mainly due to the high wattage of the heating element and small size brass boiler. We found this to be very convenient for morning warm-ups, especially when in a rush.
  • Security thermostat and security valve – For better pressure control.
  • Three-way solenoid valve – Allows immediate removal of the portafilter immediately after the espresso extraction has ceased (or when the pump switch in coffee mode is turned off).
  • Power switch – Located on the back right of the unit. Not difficult to reach and also keeps it out of the way of the rest of the main controls.
  • Three-way switch – Located on the front middle of the unit. Selects between the different modes. The up position is the steam mode. The middle is hot water mode. The down is the coffee mode.
  • Pump switch – Located on the front right of the unit. Used to activate the pump for coffee or hot water mode.
  • Steam/water knob – Located on the right of the espresso machine. Allows you to control the intensity of the steam or water output.
  • Multi-purpose – Used for both steam or hot water depending on the current mode.
  • Multi-directional – Enables you to prepare creamy cappuccinos.
  • Very short wait time – The small boiler and high wattage heating element, combined with the PID controller cut the wait time from coffee to steam considerably.
  • Polymer tubing – The tubing that connects the boiler to steam / hot water valves are alimentary. They can withstand high pressure, withstand high temperatures up to 620 °F, facilitate easier repairs, and most importantly, are limescale free.
  • Stainless steel body and frame – Polished to a mirror finish and rust-resistant.
  • Water tank visibility – There is an opening on the left side of the machine that allows you to see the water level. This is a lot easier than opening the top cover and peeking in.
  • Drip tray – The tray is made of plastic. The cover is made of stainless steel. Both are removable for easy cleaning.
  • PID display – Allows the temperature of the boiler to be programmed for different coffees.
  • Pressure gauge – Displays in real time the pressure during coffee extraction. You only need 9-10 bars to make espresso. This gauge will help perfect your espresso shot.
  • Efficient – 41 watts, rated up to 15 bar with air valve bypass. Only 9 bar is necessary to extract espresso, and also wattage has no correlation to longevity.
  • Cost-effective – Pumps will degrade in performance over time. Replacing a vibration pump will be less costly than a rotary vane pump.

Love this purchase!6

I adore my new Lelit expresso machine. The coffee is fabulous and the steamer works better than other reviews led me to believe. It’s a solid machine and the size is perfect for my tiny kitchen!

Great machine

This is espresso machine is pretty straightforward to understand and operate. Made a perfect espresso the first time I used it. The steamer for cappuccino is much better and more powerful than my old machine (a Krups that lasted 30 years), so that has a bit of a learning curve, but not a big deal.

I did have one, small "First World Problem" initially. The gauge for the bar pressure didn't move when making the espresso, but otherwise everything functioned perfectly. After talking with Comiso customer service, the problem was solved by running the machine with the blind filter that is included. Now everything is 100%. I appreciated that they took the time to research the issue, and guided me through the solution.

Very pleased with the Lelit Anna, and with Comiso Coffee.

Solid little machine

A great upgrade from my previous machine (Via Venezia), it's shiny as ever. Heats up pretty quickly. Decent steam comes out, haven't quite got the hang of it for milk, but much better than last machine. The 57mm portafiter size doesn't matter to me since I'm not worried about accessories that much. My Gaggia MDF is consistent enough to get good shots dialed in as long as I'm doing good bed prep, so I'm content. The single shot basket works okay too. The water container is a little weird, but fine and was able to drop in a water softener cartridge since it's not recommended to descale the boiler all that much. The challenge might be it's not that popular in the US, but for the value you get with the gauge and pid it really should be. Between my wife and I we've been pulling 6-8 shots everyday for a month and it's been solid. This thing looks like it's built inside to last and be serviceable, so here's hoping this will last 10years like the last machine I had.

  • Includes a portafilter – Dual spout portafilter.
  • Includes filter baskets – 1-cup filter basket which holds approximately 7 grams. 2-cup filter basket which holds approximately 14 grams. Pod filter basket for use with E.S.E. pods. 57mm in diameter.
  • Includes a tamper – A cheap plastic tamper. Manufacturers will normally include a tamper like this to keep the overall selling price of the machine low.
  • Includes a coffee scoop – A simple plastic scoop if you are using pre-ground coffee.
  • Instructional manual.
